While surfing around for some other programs I came across this one. It's a free one to start out with and you can add on later. It's your own recording studio and while it may not have everything you want, it's got a lot of what you need. For singer songwriters, this is awesome since you can play back the songs recording your voice for a little demo or some practice.

Making your own sound
Whether you're a Basement DJ, Orc Dork, or you don't even have an instrument. You love music, you need some rhythm and you want to call it your own. Maybe you like pure hip hop beats and dubbing your voice over. Maybe you're laying down a few lines to build up to a monster beat.
